There is more tech content than anyone can keep up with, but staying updated has never been more important. Tech Signal Six uses data and traction signals to identify which technologies are actually gaining momentum across articles, tutorials and videos.

This week’s signal
Six Traction rose in six of nine tracked themes this week and fell in none. AI Coding Agents moved from 63 to 76 and AI Inference Infrastructure from 60 to 70, where sglang's PyPI downloads rose 84.4% to 349,702. The figures show more usage this week, not why it grew.

Ranked by Six Traction — adoption data, growth, source breadth, enterprise relevance and learning value. Not press coverage.
six traction
Open protocols like MCP are becoming the standard way AI agents connect to tools, data and each other.
six traction
Developers increasingly delegate whole coding tasks to agents that plan, edit, test and open pull requests.
six traction
Serving engines decide whether AI features are profitable: the same GPUs, several times the throughput.
six traction
Models small enough to run on laptops and phones now handle real production tasks.

Governments and major codebases are making memory-safe languages the default choice for new systems code.

Past the hype, retrieval quality, not model choice, is what limits AI answers on your own data.
six traction
A safe, fast way to run code anywhere, spreading from the browser to servers, plugins and AI-agent sandboxes.
six traction
A code-first way to build, run and deploy multi-service apps, with observability built in.

The migration to quantum-safe encryption is underway, with regulatory deadlines moving faster than quantum computers themselves.
Ask which systems expose MCP endpoints and who manages identity and audit for agent access; cloud vendors now offer managed options.
Ask your leads how much merged code is agent-written today, and whether review policy and credential scoping have kept pace.
Evaluate the hybrid local/cloud pattern, and ask what the inference bill looks like if most routine requests ran on-device.
Each theme page includes business impact, risks and the questions worth asking your engineering team.

Editor’s note: Six Traction rose in six of the nine tracked themes this week and fell in none; three held steady. AI Coding Agents moved from 63 to 76, with @anthropic-ai/claude-code's npm downloads up 18.9% to 7.23M. AI Inference Infrastructure moved from 60 to 70, as sglang's PyPI downloads rose 84.4% to 349,702 and vllm's PyPI downloads rose 10.9% to 491,049. Four themes' momentum labels changed: Agent Interoperability Protocols and AI Inference Infrastructure both turned from Declining to Growing, AI Coding Agents turned from Declining to Stable, and Memory-Safe Systems Programming turned from Stable to Growing. These labels track how Six Traction moved over the last four editions, not this week's change alone, so a label can shift when an older rise or fall drops out of that window. Separately, several themes were recalibrated this week onto a new scoring method; each theme's previous score is already restated on the new scale, so the changes reported here are real movement, not a scale shift. Elsewhere, liboqs-python's PyPI downloads fell 11.7% to 12,191 in Post-Quantum Cryptography, ollama's npm downloads rose 14.2% to 513,602 in Small Language Models & On-Device AI, and @bytecodealliance/jco's npm downloads fell 13.3% to 275,165 in WebAssembly Beyond the Browser. Aspire & Cloud-Native .NET joins the site for the first time this edition, scoring 62. This follows the previous edition's broad pullback in downloads and momentum.
